It is your responsibility to submit your information to the British Columbia College of Oral Health Professionals (BCCOHP). TODS Meeting does not submit CPD or CE on your behalf.

For BC oral health professionals, including certified dental assistants, dental hygienists, dental therapists, dental technicians, dentists and denturists, the following outlines the new Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Continuing Professional Development (CPD)-B.C.

NEW– Under the modernized BCCOHP Quality Assurance Program (QAP), oral health professionals are expected to engage in ongoing professional development. While the program no longer requires reporting a specific number of credits or hours, the expectation to participate in meaningful learning remains the same. Learning activities may focus on clinical skills as well as communication, teamwork, documentation, leadership, cultural safety, or practice management.

Professional Standard 2.7 requires oral health professionals to maintain current knowledge, skills, and abilities. To meet this standard, you must demonstrate that:

  • 2.7.1 You remain current and keep your knowledge, skills and abilities up to date throughout your professional career.
  • 2.7.2 You use your professional judgment and reflect on patient outcomes to identify potential gaps or deficiencies in your knowledge, skills and ability and take steps to address them.

Oral health professionals are encouraged to reflect on the BCCOHP Standards for the Oral Health Team and identify learning goals relevant to their practice. Licensees should choose professional development that ensures patient safety, upholds professional responsibility, and maintains professional competence.

More information about the BCCOHP’s Quality Assurance Program (QAP) can be found at https://oralhealthbc.ca/practice-resources/quality-assurance/.

Reporting your Continuing Professional Development (CPD):

It is your responsibility to fill out your proof of attendance form (in your registration package) to submit when you complete Component A of the Quality Assurance Program (QAP) set out by the BCCOHP. TODS does not submit any proof of attendance on your behalf. All submissions should be accurate and truthful, and submissions to the contrary are in violation of the BCCOHP’s Code of Ethics.

Attendees from outside B.C. should consult with their provincial or state regulatory body for continuing education credit requirements. Proof of attendance forms can be found in your registration packages.
