2026 BCDA Update: Navigating Change in Dentistry

Dentistry continues to evolve rapidly, bringing both new challenges and opportunities for the profession. Join Dr. Guessy Wang, President of the British Columbia Dental Association (BCDA), for an update on the key issues shaping dentistry across British Columbia and Canada.

This session will explore major developments affecting the profession, including ongoing regulatory reform, the continued implementation of the Canadian Dental Care Plan, and broader system-wide pressures impacting dental practices and patient care. Attendees will also gain insight into how BCDA is supporting members through advocacy, member benefits, workforce and staffing initiatives, and resources to help strengthen practice and business management.

About The Speakers

Dr. Guessy Wang

Dr. Guessy was born in China and she moved to Vancouver at a young age. Her academic pursuits took her from the University of British Columbia, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology and Immunology, to a Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Western Ontario, and finally to a Master of Public Health at Harvard University.

In 2018, Dr. Guessy made Fort St. John, BC her new home by joining North Peace Dental (now North Peace Dental and Implant Centre). Her parents, along with their family cat, joined her in 2021, and they have warmly embraced life in Fort St John since.

Beyond her clinical practice, Dr. Guessy is deeply passionate about dental public health and access to care in rural Canada. For the past seven years, she has traveled to Nunavut in Arctic Canada several times a year to serve remote Inuit communities.

Since 2020, Dr. Guessy has served as a board director of the BC Dental Association, advocating for health awareness and education as a Northern rural dentist, is currently serving as President-Elect and will sit as President starting in late 2026.

Her dedication in community service has earned her recognition and fellowship from several honorary dental leadership societies, including the International College of Dentists (ICD), American College of Dentists (ACD), and Pierre Fauchard Academy (PFA).
