Cracked teeth pose a significant dental concern, affecting individuals of all ages. We have seen a substantial increase in cracked teeth over the last few years. Cracked teeth present unique challenges for all practitioners and require a comprehensive understanding of their etiology, diagnosis, and management.
This presentation will provide a new look into this emerging issue. We will outline the latest vocabulary for cracked teeth and vertical root fractures and review the main risk factors. This presentation aims to provide insights into cracked teeth from an endodontic perspective, focusing on diagnosis and treatment strategies.

About The Speaker
Dr. Stefanie Nio DDS, MSc, FRCD(C), Certified Specialist in Endodontics – Born and raised with Indonesian heritage in the landscapes of the Netherlands, Dr. Stefanie Nio brings a unique touch of kind-heartedness and precision to the field of endodontics. After obtaining her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in dentistry from the University of Amsterdam (ACTA) in 2010, Dr. Nio enjoyed 4 years of private practice before pursuing her passion in endodontics.
Dr. Nio attended the University of British Columbia in Vancouver where she achieved her master’s degree in Craniofacial Science and her diploma in Endodontics. While in graduate school, Dr. Nio focused her research on endodontic microbiology and irrigation. This research has subsequently been published in the Journal of Odontology.
Dr. Nio maintains a respectable full-time practice in Kelowna, BC where she is devoted to elevating patient care through the pursuit of excellence and remaining at the forefront of technological advancements and treatment modalities. Furthermore, Dr. Nio is deeply committed to sharing knowledge and fostering collaboration within the dental community and has now established a dedicated learning centre at her office. Dr. Nio provides a welcoming platform for dental professionals to engage in continuous learning.
Dr. Nio’s greatest reward lies in the positive impact she can make on patients, colleagues, and the broader dental community. With a steadfast commitment to excellence, compassion, and continued education, she has an unwavering dedication to shaping the future of endodontics and improving oral health outcomes for all.
Outside the office, Dr. Nio enjoys exploring the beautiful hiking trails of the Okanagan and spending quality time with family and friends.
