By the end of this lecture, participants should be able to: 

Improve Diagnostic Accuracy in Endodontics 

  • Differentiate between true endodontic and non-endodontic periapical lesions 
  • Recognize when CBCT is beneficial for complex cases 
  • Interpret radiographic and clinical findings to avoid misdiagnosis

Detect and Manage Cracked Teeth in Everyday Practice 

  • Identify key clinical signs of cracks  
  • Review prognosis of cracked teeth  

Recognize and Respond to Cemental Tears 

  • Understand their clinical relevance and impact on prognosis 
  • Identify radiographic and CBCT indicators of cemental tears 
  • Develop a treatment approach that considers both periodontal and endodontic implications 

Diagnose and Treat External Cervical Resorption (ECR)  

  • Differentiate ECR from internal resorption radiographically 
  • Apply appropriate treatment options, from monitoring to surgical intervention

Enhance Treatment Planning and Patient Communication 

  • Integrate endodontic, periodontal, and restorative factors for better case selection 
  • Effectively explain diagnostic findings and treatment options to patients 

About The Speaker

Dr. Deborah Szabo studied at the University of Western Ontario where she obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) in 2003. After graduating from dental school, Deb received her Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) certificate from the University of Michigan in 2004 and then entered private practice in Ontario. After 12 years of general practice, Deb went back to school at the University of British Columbia to pursue her specialty in endodontics. 

Throughout her dental career, Deb participated and continues to participate in many volunteer clinics and programs. As well, she has been an instructor to both practicing and student dentists.  Deb is practicing in North Vancouver where she lives with her husband and three children.
