Outline:
This is an introduction to cone beam CT imaging. It will discuss the fundamentals of image acquisition, limitations of this technology, and imaging prescription. It will introduce common artifacts, common findings, and an approach to navigating CBCT volumes. Clinically relevant oral radiology cases will be presented.
Objectives:
- Understand the fundamentals of CBCT image acquisition and prescription
- Review common imaging artifacts and findings
- Review the fundamentals of volume navigation and interpretation
- Review of interesting cases
About The Speaker
Dr. Gaurav Krishnamoorthy is an Oral Radiologist. He obtained his BSc and DMD degrees at McGill University, an AEGD at the University of Connecticut, and a MSc in oral radiology at the University of Toronto. Gaurav has a passion for oral radiology and has presented at several conferences across Canada. He is active in post-graduate dental education in oral radiology at the University of Toronto and at Princess Margaret Hospital. He is the recipient of a research award at the AAOMR (American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology), the Poyton graduate award, a CIHR student research award, and the Dr. Michael Pharoah graduate scholarship in oral and maxillofacial radiology. Gaurav is a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, a diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, and a member of the Canadian Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. He works at the department of Dental Oncology and Maxillofacial Prosthetics at Princess Margaret Hospital and in private practice.
