All Thompson Okanagan dentists (non-delegates or delegates of the 2019 TODS Meeting) are welcome to attend the AGM.  This short meeting will update dentists on the society’s activities with highlights from the CDSBC and BCDA.

How Dental Regulation is Changing, and Staying the Same. Understanding the impact of the Harry Clayton report and the directive from the Minister of Health.

Join Dr. Chris Hacker, CDSBC Registrar and CEO, and Mr. Carl Roy, Board Chair, for a candid review of the journey to becoming a leading regulator.  The discussion will include the implications of the recent bylaw amendments, what they mean and what they don’t mean for registrants of CDSBC.

Biography

Dr. Chris Hacker leads the staff team at the College of Dental Surgeons of BC, which regulates the conduct and competence of the 10,000 dentists, dental therapists and certified dental assistants in BC. Chris practiced as a general dentist in Vancouver for more than 30 years before joining the College as a complaint investigator in 2011. He became Registrar and CEO on March 1, 2019. In this role, Chris directs CDSBC’s operations in support of its public protection mandate.

Mr. Carl Roy, CDSBC Board Chair.  Carl is the President & CEO of the Provincial Health Services Authority.  He brings more than four decades of experience in the health sector and has worked with multiple regulatory bodies throughout his career. He has a strong governance background and demonstrated success in improving board performance.

Recently elected by the CDSBC Board as their Chair, Carl will lead the Board through a year of transition as CDSBC delivers on the many commitments in the Action Plan submission to the Minister of Health.
