The student will be introduced to the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to perform as a surgical CDA. The focus of this hands-on workshop is sterile technique and an overview of the accompanying surgical procedures performed in dentistry: e.g. implants & grafting.
Introduction to advanced skills, and translation to practice is the focus of this workshop.
Handouts: Will be provided online. Supplies: All clinical supplies and resources are included.
The participants must be Certified Dental Assistants in good standing with their provincial licensing bodies.

Ms. Kathryn Truant, CDA, MEd, ID is a part-time clinical instructor in the Certified Dental Assistant program at Okanagan College. She also works in the dental community as a surgical CDA and consultant. Kathryn’s experience as an educator and a practicing CDA informs this workshop.
Kathryn is an alumna of the Okanagan College CDA program with many years of experience as a CDA in the dental community. She has a Provincial Instructor Diploma from Vancouver Community College, and a Master of Education Degree from Simon Fraser University in Curriculum and Instruction Post-Secondary.
