Over the last 100 years, two-dimensional radiographs have assisted an untold number of clinicians in providing exceptional treatment for their patients. The diagnostic capability of traditional films remained unchallenged until the advent of computer-based imaging. The 21st century provides doctors with the opportunity to incorporate the latest advancements in diagnostic imaging into their private practice. The benefits of modern technology allow the doctor to view their patients from a three-dimensional perspective and provide state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment.
This presentation will reflect upon traditional imaging then move the clinician forward into the world of 3D. From diagnostic yield to radiation dose, the dialogue will focus on how the application, opportunities and advantages of cone beam CT can enhance the quality of patient care.
Implant therapy, TMJ assessment, airway visualization, surgical planning and sinus evaluation all have the potential to benefit from advanced imaging. Starting with the diagnosis of pathologic conditions and continuing into the realm of oral rehabilitation, the discussion will focus on clinical applications of modern imaging systems that can assist doctors in continuing to provide optimal care for their patients.
