CDHBC QAP Competency – D3

Are you feeling confident with your ultrasonic knowledge, insert selection, and adaptation but want to move to the next level of competence in terms of non-surgical periodontal therapy?  In a simulated clinical environment, Cheri will guide you through the most anatomically challenging situations.  Using Cavitron inserts, participants will have the opportunity to build from their current ultrasonic knowledge and skill level.  Emphasis will be placed on sequencing, adaptation and activation of curved ultrasonic inserts for biofilm removal in deep pockets, furcations and concavities – Shape Matters!  Special consideration will be given to operator/patient positioning and the use of high volume evacuation for aerosol reduction.    If you goal is to improve your periodontal clinical outcomes for your patient’s – this course is for you!

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

  • Demonstrate the most effective principles of ultrasonic instrumentation, including grasp, fulcrum and stroke activation
  • Select the appropriate curved insert to strategically sequence ultrasonic instrumentation for effective and safe debridement.
  • Achieve end-point debridement for non-surgical periodontal therapy in furcations, concavities and curved root surfaces.
  • Demonstrate sound ergonomic principles while utilizing high volume evacuation
