Crown lengthening procedures may be provided in order to facilitate Restorative/Prosthetic therapy and/or improve esthetics. In order to make the correct diagnosis, this lecture course will illustrate the indications and contraindications for utilization of Crown Lengthening surgery. Techniques for soft and hard tissue management needed in functional and esthetic crown lengthening surgery procedures will be discussed. Clinical cases will be presented in order to understand the decision making process in flap design, resective osseous management, suturing techniques, and postoperative protocols.
Dr. Tim Hempton is a former clinical instructor at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Presently, he is an Adjunct Associate Clinical Professor at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine were he serves as the Assistant Director of the postdoctoral program in Periodontology. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, a Fellow of the American College of Dentistry and also maintains a private practice Limited to Periodontics and Dental Implants in Dedham, MA. He has lectured at the several previous ADA Annual Meetings as well as many regional dental meetings throughout the United States.
